Importance of cyber threat intelligence in cybersecurity.

What is the cyber threat?

Cyberthreat is information collected from a specific threat, which is later evaluated from its source and analyzed through intensive and well-structured research on how it operates and the kind of motives it has for a specific computer system. In an easier term, cyber threat, according to Kurt Baker (2022), is data that has been collected and analyzed to be able to understand a threat's motives, and attack behaviors.

Cyberthreat has several examples such as Malware, phishing, and ransomware.

How to protect computer systems from cyber threats.

Cyberthreats are protected by the following 4 stages.

1. Strategic threat intelligence

2. Technical threat intelligence

3. Tactical threat intelligence

4. Operational threat intelligence

Strategic threat intelligence.

According to Miller (2018) Strategic threat intelligence is the providing a huge understanding of how cyber threats attack computer systems and how they change over time

Technical threat intelligence.

According to www.threat.media.com (2022) are threat indicators that cybersecurity specialists use to protect security networks.

Tactical threat intelligence

Swisher J. (2018) says that tactical threat intelligence is the most basic form of threat intelligence which is used to detect cyber threats in a security network.

Operational Threat Intelligence

According to www.cyware.com (2021), operational threat intelligence provides information on the nature and character of an attack, identifies a threat, and displays information on when and how the threat will hit an organisation
1). Enables security teams to make better decisions.
2). Cost effective
3). Avoids Data breach

Benefits of cyberthreat to a computer user.

According to Malik (2021), the benefits of cyberthreat are.

1). Ability to determine cyber attacker's motives and intentions

2). Removing invalid threat indicators.

3). Enhances patch management processes.
